Love That Fever is a multimedia international event production company founded in 2010 specializes in interactive and participatory artistic productions. Co-founder and partner JJ Relph hopes that the night of jewels, afros, tuxedos, exotic fau furs, and disco balls will inspire a vestige of change in the way patrons of NYC’s arts collective gay and lesbian scene defines the word “expression” — all while contributing to the efforts of the EAC’s Journey of empowering women and children. The EAC is a non-profit organization that helps communities achieve empowerment by increasing literacy for women and children, improving health status, and eradicating poverty.
JJ Relph stated “this will be a night were fantasies come to life, the lines between sexuality become very fluid and boys who like boys who like girls who like girls who like boys will all meld into one. New York’s party scene is very divided along gender and sexual orientation lines this is the party were you get to leave your label at the door, and come and have fun and see what happens.”
Gold & Glitter will also feature a variety of glitz and glam treats throughout the night from, BUILT2BURN Disco Fashion and makeovers, and Gold & Glitter body painting, MC Christopher Hardwick – serving as the flamboyant “Steven Rubell” of Studio 54, Suck My Lemons Photo-booth by Page, ANIMUS — all while while jewel-covered men and women known affectionately as the FEVER DOLLS, fulfill your every need, and Drag queens will give you LIP.

New York’s dynamic cultural shifts

JANUARY 27 – FEBRUARY 13, 2011
THE LABA THEATRE AT THE 14TH STREET Y
In GENTRIFUSION, playwrights Carla Ching, Joshua Conkel , Michael John Garcés, Jon Kern, Janine Nabers and Crystal Skillman, explore the different truths surrounding the gentrification of New York’s neighborhoods. The playwrights were charged with breaking down the cliched idea of “gentrification”.
Their pieces dig deeper to address the ways that change both improves and diminishes a community. All residents are given voice in this series, ultimately discovering that both long time residents and the new crop of gentrifiers benefit and suffer in different measures and different ways.
Joshua Conkel’s short play is ,
Robert Mapplethorpe
Doesn’t Live Here Anymore
Is the “gay ghetto” dead? Some queens just can’t agree on anything.
According to Josh, “My piece is about a war of words between a trans street person and a well-to-do gay man whose just adopted a baby. It’s about assimilation vs identity within the gay community and the death of “gay ghettos” due to gentrification.”
Tickets are $25 and are now available online at Theater Mania or by calling 866.811.4111. Tickets may also be purchased in-person at the theater box office ½ hour prior to the performance.

Gay Pop Singer Adam Shenk at Bitter End Jan. 18th
And you can hear it in his music- in the synth and groove of the song Taste off of his 2010 release Suitcases but you can also hear traces of neo-soul, and jazz. But don’t be fooled- though his hair is a throwback he wears a modern fitted suit and has trained with top New York choreographers to bring the best of the 90’s and tangle it with the current, creating a cutting edge contemporary image and sound.
Gay pop artist Adam Shenk is breaking the barriers of the traditional singer songwriter prototype- he steps out from behind his keyboard and engages the crowd with his dancing and indelible hooks. And the verdict on the new 90’s boy singer-songwriter hybrid toy? Sugary and sticky hooks, sexy and evocative vocals, and a deliciousness that makes you feel like you are 13 again dancing in front of the mirror.
With an extensive history of studying at renowned music academies, Adam packed his ‘suitcases’ and ventured to New York to express his unique blend of music. Soon thereafter he began gaining notoriety, landing a spot as a semi-finalist on MTV’s Making The Band, performing for Puff Daddy, and working with top choreographer Laurieann Gibson and New Edition/Bell Biv DeVoe member and manager/producer Michael Bivins. Along the way he has been playing shows at top New York clubs including Rockwood Music Hall, Bowery Poetry Club, Bitter End, and he has held a residency at LES hotspot Pianos.
With a new video in tow for the title track to his 2010 release ‘Suitcases ’, Shenk is continuing to play in New York and the surrounding areas!

Mayor Bloomberg SLASHES Support for Homeless Youth…Then Says “It Gets Better” to the Youths!
Bloomberg recorded an “It Gets Better” video yesterday, in which he urged bullied gay youth to come to New York City where they would be accepted. Ok, so you are cutting support – yet encouraging youths to come to New York City….WTF?!
Bloomberg says in the video: “Right now there may be some of you out there who feel that there’s no hope, or that you’re not wanted. Well I have a message for you. New York City wants you. New York has always been the place where anyone can go, and be who they’re supposed to be, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual identity. We need you.”
This whole It Gets Better movement is becoming kind of silly. Even President Obama has said “It Gets Better”. Really Barack?
Carl Siciliano, Executive Director of the Ali Forney Center, which provides shelter and services for homeless LGBT youth, said “Mayor Bloomberg, your cruel and reckless cuts to the meager support system for homeless LGBT youth in New York City just made things for them much worse! On January 1st, Bloomberg cut support for outreach to homeless youth in half, cut most drop-in centers for homeless youth by a third, and cut support for the two LGBT homeless youth drop-in programs in half. In New York City there are over 1,000 LGBT youth suffering on the streets every night without access to safe shelter. The drop-in centers and outreach are their only support. Homeless LGBT youth are at incredible risk of suicide with 62% reporting that they have considered or attempted suicide.
The LGBT community needs to recognize these cuts as an attack against our most vulnerable youth, and against us as a whole. We pay just as much taxes as anyone, and there are far too few City-funded programs that support our most vulnerable youth. If we can be treated like this in a city with as strong an community as NYC, how will our youth ever get their fair share of the resources they need and deserve? I cannot speak strongly enough about what a horror it is to have LGBT youth who have been discarded by homophobic parents flock to us for help, and to have to counsel them to sleep in the subways because there are not nearly enough beds for them.”

Blaine Anderson Solo Show in Brooklyn
SHO Gallery will present
the work of Brooklyn based
artist Blaine Anderson ,
in a solo show from January 2nd to Jan 16th with a reception on Jan 7th, free and open to the public.
Blaine Anderson Sublimation, Jan. 2-15. Artist Reception Fri, Jan. 7 from 7-10pm.
SHO Gallery @ The Loading Dock
170 Tillary St. Brooklyn NY 11201
Gallery Hours: Tue-Fri, 11-3 & 6-10. Sat-Sun 11-4 & 6-10.
Blaine Anderson’s work draws on the writings of Jean Genet , drawing parallels in the artistic method of personal revelation as a political act. Anderson’s ongoing search for relationship to mentors of an historical nature is performed through an immersion in the works of a particular writer, poet or artist that then affects his drawing and imagery painted in and on the gallery, in an attempt to connect to and collaborate with those who have gone before.
Genet was one of the first writers to use his identity as a homosexual and a thief as a theme for his work. His ability to plumb the depths in order to shed light on those shunned aspects of his personality show courage and strength. His poetic prose was instrumental in his release from prison, when Sartre and Cocteau argued for him and helped publish his work, and helped him transcend and process the gritty experiences that were instrumental in shaping his identity. Genet is duly credited with a major role in the forging of public gay identity through his role in creating many of the stereotypes and fantasies that gay men, to this day, find ourselves identifying with and attracted to even as we attempt to break those molds.
Despite the major changes brought about by events since Stonewall and the progress made by activists though recent decades, society is still confused at how to deal with issues surrounding sexual identity. Anderson works to understand the roots of homophobia, both within and outside of himself and society. Recent events such as the spotlight on school bullying and California’s struggle with gay marriage and Prop 8 confirms the deeply troubled relationship between the troubled homosexual of the past and the proud queers of today. The work on display at SHO Gallery is the visual result of an ongoing attempt to reconcile and confront those political and personal issues and desires that affect each of us.

FCKH8 Male Model Calendar and Shirts
40,000 T-shirts
over $250,000 for queer youth suicide prevention and the fight for marriage equality!
WOW!
This is even bigger than NOH8 !
The latest F-word-filled viral video from FCKH8.com
features a cross section of people, including a 5-year old child, drag queens and an old woman, Pussycat Doll Jessica Sutta and YouTube sensation “Kelly” (known for her over 40-million-viewed video “Shoes”) using the forbidden four-letter word to take “Homo H8ers” to task.
The no-holds-barred clip shows people wearing purple and white T-shirts that read “FCKH8”, “Don’t B H8N on the Homos” and “STR8 AGAINST H8.” The T-shirts are sold on the video’s website starting at $13 each, with $5 going directly to organizations offering vital counseling & suicide prevention programs. The website also sells bumper stickers, hoodies, wristbands and buttons to help spread its message. Which are all selling like crazy!
The website’s message and fundraising T-shirts have found support from some of Hollywoods biggest gay names with Ellen Degeneres and wife Portia deRossi snagging pins and stickers reading “Some Chicks Marry Chicks. Get Over It” and Glee’s Jane Lynch posing for photos to promote the fundraising T-shirt with the same slogan. Glam rocker Adam Lambert tweeted the video’s link to almost a million fans saying, “It’s for a good cause. Sometimes fire w/ fire is a great way to illustrate a point.”
The controversial but humorous video rails against anti-gay bigots at home, church and school with lines like, “You bully your kids, you bury your kids“, “Preaching FCKed up hate has a lot to do with the suicide rate”, and a little 4 year-old girl exclaiming, “If I grow up lesbo, do you want me to FCKing get gay bashed?”

What happens when the gay rights activists at FCKH8.com get their hands on a dozen or so straight dudes? The “STR8 AGAINST H8” 2011 Charity Calendar shows homo-friendly straight guys stripped down and oiled up looking picture-perfect sexy for a good cause. The FCKH8.com website sells the 13-month charity calendars online and also features a 4 minute behind the scenes video featurette that captures all the sexy shenanigans that happened during the photo shoot. The hot and humorous “making of” video features athletic, good-looking half-nude straight models in compromising positions and pushes the line with straight men’s “junk” needing to be blurred out.
“These guys are more than just good-looking, they are helping out a good cause,” says director Luke Montgomery. “Who hasn’t wanted to get their hands on some hot straight boys walking around in just their underwear and jockstraps? We loved every minute of it and it shows in the calendar’s sexy photos.”

BURLESQUE! Cher and Christina Deliver
likes something different. 10 people can watch the same movie and give it 10 different reviews.
I had heard rumours Christina Aguilera’s part was lack luster. I had heard that the story had some holes in it. Whatever. I just ask myself, “Was it entertaining?” – and the answer is yes! BURLESQUE
is very entertaining!
And all I can say is if Cher doesn’t make you wet, Eric Dane and Cam Gigandet WILL!
I found the story entertaining, I want to run out and get the Soundtrack, Christina’s voice is amazing, and I want to see Eric Dane or Cam Gigandet do gay porn! Which probably isn’t going to happen!
In case you don’t know the story yet…Fresh off the bus from Iowa to L.A., Ali (Christina Aguilera) boasts a great body and an even better voice, so it’s only a matter of time until the owner of the Burlesque Lounge (Cher) gives her a chance. She starts out a cocktail waitress, then becomes the lead showgirl and singer. Meanwhile, a real estate mogul (Eric Dane) tries to buy the club from Cher because she is falling in debt. Ali beocmes “roomies” with one of the club’s hot delicious bartenders (Cam Gigandet), whose fiance is 3,000 miles away and not coming back soon. I won’t spoil the ending but there are tensions and drama but it’s a happy ending for all in the end.
CHER looks great! But ahem, I suspect a little vaseline on the lens or a soft filter perhaps. But she looks great, nonetheless at 64! The sets are eye catching and Christina’s voice, well, what can you say?! Flawless.
“Ally is short for Alice.”, says Ali/Christina
“Welcome to wonderland”, says Stanley Tucci/Shaun.
Sure it is a bit corny at times, if you want to split hairs.Aguilera shows off that big voice as she transforms the Burlesque club from lip-sync lounge to a suddenly hot home to a blues shouting torch singer (her) dancing and singing with scantily clad women – ala PussyCat Dolls.
Alan Cumming also does a little variation of his Broadway Emcee from “Cabaret” and has the most overtly sexual number in this surprisingly chaste riff on the old bump and grind.
(those MEN! Cam Gigandet top – Eric Dane bottom)
Tea with Mussolini (1999) was Cher’s last film. When asked about her emotions after all these years finding herself on a sound stage again, She said, ” I was terrified. That’s the way I roll. I roll terrified in the beginning. You go scene by scene. Whatever is in front of you is the thing you do. If there had been more great movies along the way, I would have done those.”
and she revelaed, “There’s an opportunity to go on a tour and yet I’m not so sure that that’s something I want to do immediately because I’ve been working for a long time. I did like working on this film so much that I really would like to do another film. We’ll see.”

Q The Series – Online Video Show From Columbia Students
It’s a comedy about queer life on campus that addresses a wide range of topics in the LGBT community and how our generation deals with them — the main characters include trans, bisexual, pansexual, and homosexual guys and girls.
Being a comedy, the show focuses on the positive aspects of living in a community and generation that’s closer to accepting queer lifestyles, but also addresses the natural tensions that can arise.
Currently, it is still in production (for an online release and advanced screening next spring), but they are trying to get awareness out now and already have a trailer for the series up online.
The show is produced completely by students in the city, mostly from Columbia University, and is a non-profit endeavor. Funding has been generously provided by the Gatsby Foundation (providing many on-campus arts grants), and equipment has been donated by Columbia University Film Productions (an undergraduate film club). The remaining funding will hopefully be raised through our Kickstarter account.
It’s the aim of the cast and crew to spread awareness of the different lifestyles that exist in our generation — we really want to show the fun side of being a young adult in this new cultural era. Our production team is working to make the best show out of everything we’ve got.
The show will be shooting over the month of January, and is planned for release over the months of March and April. The first few episodes of the show will be screened to our supporters and crew in New York City before the release of the series.

Actor Michael Brea a Murderer?
A black 55-year-old woman identified as Yannick Brea was found dead in a Brooklyn apartment with multiple stab wounds early Tuesday morning, the NYPD confirms.
According to the NYPD, Brea, 31, was overheard screaming bible passages and yelling “repent” during a confrontation with his mother, Yanick Brea, 55. Shortly after, she was found dead of multiple stab wounds.
“EMS responded and prounounced her dead at the scene,” said a police spokesman. Brea, who also had a bit part in Step Up 3D, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the hospital.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said that Brea was holding a Bible when cops arrived at the bloody scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending.
Jake and Marty LaSalle – Once Jugglers… CIRCUS No More
with Jake and Marty LaSalle
this month as PBS aired CIRCUS ?!
Over the course of six dramatic hours, the documentary follows the legendary Big Apple Circus on an unforgettable journey from the big top to the “back lot,” where nail-biting drama unfolds both high in the air and down on the ground and the real heart of the circus beats.
The delicious gay twins (how hot is that?!) Jake and Marty have left juggling now however. In the show we get a glimpse of their tension building – but it’s never really revealed, what is driving them apart. Is it Jake’s decision to leave the circus? or something else?
They had the same genes but different dreams, and that spelled the untimely end of one of the most celebrated young circus acts in recent memory. Two years ago, the brothers said, they were each earning $67,000 a year — from the circus, and double that from regular side gigs.
Now, Marty makes about half as much as he used to. He still lives in a trailer at Damrosch Park, working for the circus in guest relations and business development — he exercises infrequently and has not juggled publicly in 16 months.
Brother Jake is in his second year of medical school at the University of California — he chose the institution because a top training ground, the San Francisco Circus Center, is also nearby.
The New York Times did a big piece on the brothers last week.
Jake says, “I definitely have no regrets about joining the circus. I think that if I ever do, it will be that I didn’t stay in the circus long enough. There were, of course, times when it was difficult. We sacrificed a great deal when we were developing our act as teenagers, and we had conflicts with each other, our parents and our coach.
I also have no regrets about leaving the circus to become a surgeon, though it was not an easy decision to go to medical school. I imagine I would have found happiness in either path, but I’m very satisfied with the new challenge that the practice of medicine has presented to me.
