Amanda Lepore FACELIFT for FORTWO Car
Amanda Lepore is a name synonymous with glamour in nightclubs and burlesque halls around the world. ‘The most expensive body on Earth,’ as she is known, and unofficial ambassador of New York City’s nightlife scene was catapulted into the spotlight after being discovered by visionary photographer David LaChapelle.
Breaking into the music scene with ease, Amanda has left a string of hits in her wake – including “My Hair Looks Fierce,” “Cotton Candy,” “Champagne” and her latest offering “Doin’ It My Way.” Lepore continues winning over new fans every day – her recent appearance in a viral video by photographer/director Marco Ovando lip-synching Marina And The Diamond’s hit song “Primadonna” with friends in the New York City nightlife scene prompted Marina herself to exclaim “Oh my god, I died! I love Amanda Lepore so much.”
These days, Amanda is still a jet-setter with an upcoming appearance on Here TV’s new reality show titled Because Of An Earlier Incident, a featured role in Smart Car’s commercial for their Fortwo model airing in a majority of Europe, a stop in Vienna where she wowed crowds at Europe’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser ‘Life Ball’ alongside The Scissor Sisters and as if that weren’t enough, she also served as host for the star-studded GLAAD fundraiser in Manhattan on August 7th. The new show, Because Of An Earlier Incident, is a reality show shot in a documentary style that highlights NYC’s most intriguing artists as they share their insights, inspiration, creative pursuits, and personal style. It debuts on September 28th promising to be reminiscent of the early 80’s street culture and portray NYC as a place to “play,” collaborate, and have fun.
Always a hit in the high end fashion world, Amanda served as both muse and actress for Brazilian fashion designer Sergio K’s 2012 Winter Campaign shot by noted American fashion photographer Terry Richardson. Fans in NYC can also catch her at the Grand Opening of Sephora’s new 45 East 17th Street store on Friday, August 10th from 4-6pm where she will appropriately perform her song “Nails Done” alongside DJ Roxy Cottontail. Pink Milk at New York City Fringe Fest Aug 10-19
An alluring drama infused with dance, PINK MILK is based on the true story of Alan Turing –
the man basically responsible for ending WWII in Britain but later
criminally charged for being gay who chose chemical castration over
prison and whose death is shrouded in mystery.
Movement, nosebleeds,
electronica, and a talking daisy PINK MILK, inspired by the father of Computer Science, explodes themes of creation, destruction and eternal love.
2012 is internationally known as Alan Turing Year as
it is the centennial anniversary of his birth (6/23/1912) and while
most of the world-wide celebrations will focus on Turing’s technological
and mathematic contributions, PINK MILK explores the uncelebrated side of his genius which ultimately led to his untimely death. This past February, PINK MILK premiered in Chicago where we shared the story of Alan Turing with a combined audience of 700 over
three nights of performances.
Alan is a lonely, gay, Snow White obsessed boy genius who meets
Christopher, a gentle boy with a passion for piano as deep as Alan’s
passion for pi. Their intellects clash in a symphony of science and
art. And as soon as he is there, Christopher is gone. Alan grows older
building technology to replace his lost love. Until the fateful day
Alan meets Arnold, a reckless boy seemingly with a passion for Alan.
But Arnold’s sensual and supposed princely promise leads to the poisoned
apple that causes Alan’s life to spiral out of control. Through
movement, poetry and music, PINK MILK is an experience that explores a
rich fantasy world while navigating complex topics from our present
reality. Remounted after a successful Chicago run, White Elephant is
proud to bring PINK MILK to the 16th Annual New York International
Fringe Festival – FringeNYC and Chicago Fringe Festival.
PINK MILK: a new magical tragedy inspired by the life of Alan Turing coming to FringeNYC August 10 – 19!

our economy. New York has always been a great place to get married and
since the passage of the Marriage Equality Act, we’re welcoming more and
more couples, their families and friends from around the country and

New York City AIDS Memorial for St Vincents Park
Manhattan’s Community Board 2 approved a new design for a New York City AIDS Memorial in Greenwich Village on a 17,000 square-foot triangle-shaped plot of land .
The design calls for a grove of trees reflected infinitely by
12-foot-long mirrors was selected for New York’s first large-scale
AIDS memorial.
The winning proposal, from Studio a+i, a Brooklyn, N.Y. architecture
firm, beat out 474 other entries in the AIDS Memorial Park competition.
Hosted byArchitectural Record, Architizer, and the
AIDS Memorial Park organization, the competition challenged designers
and non-designers to create a park for an unused triangular lot in
Manhattan’s West Village neighborhood.
The fenced-in site, which is next to the former St. Vincent’s
Hospital—one of the first in the nation to offer HIV treatment—has
17,000 square feet on the street level, as well as 10,000 square feet
below-grade, which the winning plan proposes to use as exhibition space.
Connected by tunnels to St. Vincent’s, the site had been used as a
loading dock as well as for storage of liquid oxygen tanks, until the
hospital closed in 2010.

Bette Midler and Barry Manilow Back to the Bathhouse
Bette Midler and Barry Manilow go back to
their roots in bawdy tribute comedy
BETTE & BARRY: BACK TO THE BATHHOUSE
August 1 & 15 at Laurie Beechman Theatre
Bette Midler tribute artist Donna Maxon revisits the glorious 70’s
with her new cabaret show BETTE & BARRY: BACK TO THE BATHHOUSE co-written by Maxon and director Michael Schiralli. Maxon stars as the Divine Miss M, performing a hilariously bawdy act of tunes, monologues, and jokes.
The show co-stars musical director Fonda
Feingold as Barry Manilow, and the duo proudly pays homage to the
partnership that Midler and Manilow began at New York’s Continental
Baths in 1970.
BETTE & BARRY: BACK TO THE BATHHOUSE
runs Wednesdays, August 1 and 15
at 7:30 PM at the Laurie Beechman Theatre inside West Bank Cafe (407 West 42 Street at 9th Avenue).
Tickets are $20. A full dinner menu and a full bar are available; there is a $15 per person food/drink
minimum. To purchase tickets call 212-352-3101 or visit www.SpinCycleNYC.com target=”_blank” href=”http://www.SpinCycleNYC.com”>.
BETTE & BARRY: BACK TO THE BATHHOUSE is a theatrical imagining of
current-day Midler and Manilow returning for “one more show, for old
times sake” at the legendary Continental Bathhouse. Incorporating
songs from throughout both Midler’s career (Wind Beneath My Wings,
Delta Dawn, Friends, and more) and Manilow’s (Copacabana, Looks Like
We Made It, Mandy, and others), the banter between the pair touches on
highlights of their career, including a touching reminiscence of
friends from their bathhouse days lost to AIDS. While Maxon has a
long career as a Bette Midler tribute artist, this show marks the
theatrical debut of Fonda Feingold (a woman) as Barry Manilow —
America’s foremost professional Barry Manilow drag king!

People often ask what does a small apartment in New York City sell for? Of course, you can find a variety of prices – and various conditions!
NY Curbed just featured 10 tiny studio apartments – all about $1000 a square foot.
So $300,000 gets you about 300 square feet! OUCH!
Hedda Lettuce – What is Gay Pride
This week, HEDDA LETTUCE Said, “The gay community owns the month of June. Yea bitches, that’s how we
roll. City after city celebrate gay pride consisting of a parades
teeming with half clad men; lesbians flashing their tits; drag queens
flashing their asses in colorful head dresses and six inch stilettos;
and leather queens in harnesses showing more skin than necessary. I am
still blind in my right eye after glimpsing a 75 year old mans sagging
ass in a pair of leather chaps. Personally that does not say pride to
me. It says lipo and perhaps a good stretch mark cream.”
DOES THIS SAY PRIDE?
When you hear a word used so often, one forgets the meaning. So I
went to my handy dandy dictionary to look up the word pride; here is
what popped up.
PRIDE
1. A sense of one’s own proper dignity or value; self-respect. (How a dimpled ass in chaps says self-respect I will never know)
2. Pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement.
(When I satisfy a man, and the gentleman sends me a card afterward
telling me what I great job I did, my chest does swell with pride)
3. Arrogant or disdainful conduct or treatment;
haughtiness. (There have been times when I have mistaken arrogance with
pride. For instance, when I am in a room filled with other drag queens
and I look around and say to myself, “What a sick group of people.
Standing there with their balls shoved up their asses and razor bumps on
their tits. I am so much better than these deviants.” Then I catch a
glimpse of my five o’clock shadow in a mirror and I am snapped back into
humility)
4. A flamboyant or impressive group. (This is my favorite definition, which I believe accurately describes our community)

Occupy The Disco New York OXD
(OXD), a New York City based movement, was created by three music lovers, Ru Bhatt, Josh Appelbaum, and Tadeu Magalhães.
MISSION OXD:
It was through music and nightlife that gay people in New York City,
for decades, changed concepts, gained supporters, and helped others be
happy with who they are all over the world. Our music re-shaped the mainstream, pushed boundaries, united our community, and made room for the future.
Mainstream music has now adopted much of our sound. Nightclub
promoters and DJs are pushed to only give us that which is familiar,
that which is safe. As such, many members of our community have lost the
ability to question, to experience the unknown. We must uphold our
legacy as cultural leaders in society and continue to evolve.
Our goal is simple: to re-unite the gay community in NYC through
music. To create rich and fun experiences. To dance. To feel free. To
move beyond what’s familiar. To reclaim our role as tastemakers. We want
to go further than what we already know and be surprised with new,
exciting music. And we will work to bring this back.
This is our call: Occupy The Disco.
There are now parties happening in NY which you can find on their blog –
see also OCCUPY THE DISCO on FACEBOOK
PLUS , WATCH THE VIDEO by Grammy award-winning producer and DJ David Morales with former Moloko chanteuse and Irish disco diva, Róisín Murphy. Morales is
famous for his days DJing at Paradise Garage, Stereo and Ministry of
Sound, as well as his remixes of pop songs.
Creating a veritable “dream team” of sorts, Murphy’s vocals smoothly complement Morales’ robust production. The song’s lyrics (and video)
elicit images of times past; mourning the end of many different “golden
eras”, while leaving it open to the listener to interpret which era is
in question. While we think the original is great, we prefer this remix
as Morales finishes it off with his signature disco beat.
