From Barcelona, Spain to New York City – The Hottest Gay Swimsuits and Underwear this Side of Chelsea!
is just weeks away!
and if you want something NO ONE ELSE has yet, this hot new line from Barcelona is what you need!
ES COLLECTION
Previously only available in Spain, it is spreading worldwide this year, but still in limited quantities.
Now going into its fourth year of production they will be unveiling the 2010 underwear collection this fall in the US. I just got back from Barcelona and bought a couple of the swimsuits from the 2009 collection – VERY HOT! Clean lines, fresh styles, bold color combinations and amazing fit!
This swimwear and underwear for men, is honestly some of the hottest styles we have seen with PERFECT construction and craftsmanship. Made in Barcelona, “ES tries to be unique, different and fresh in a market that is fast and more brands are joining this fast market every day. Made in Barcelona with the best fabrics that we can get from the EU market but still we can be competitive with any other brand out there on quality, price, design and delivery.”
Their designs have a wonderful cut to them, accenting your body perfectly! I purchased some of their men’s underwear and men’s swimwear, and they fit comfortable and like a glove! Many of the swimsuits features the “Pack Up” system which can easily be removed if aren’t in the mood for extra padding however is perfect for giving you that perfect “beach bulge” if you want it! It does not make your package look HUGE or anything. But it just accentuates your own package nicely and provides a wonderful smooth fit.
One of the great things about ES Collection Swimwear is the high quality of craftsmanship. With extras like the metal grommet holes and the plastic tips on the drawstring you’ll never have to “fish” out the drawstring. They also use high quality zippers, rubber logos, and just overall high quality finishing.
Word of advice for Americans – As for sizing, I would suggest, if ordering from the US, order 1 size larger than usual. Both my partner and I are 32-33″ waist, and would normally buy Medium – but their Large fits perfect. I always find European clothes run smaller than most US brands are labeled.
And who doesn’t love a SALE! Each collection features “X” number of pieces in so many sizes. Each year when the new collection is launched, anything that did not sell from the previous collection, is marked down! So when you visit their website ES COLLECTION, make sure you check out the SALE OUTLET.
MUST SEE – VIDEO of the NEWEST ES STYLES and all of their HOT models!
If you are visiting Barcelona, stop by their main store and see the entire collection on display.
Consell de Cent, 218 and right around the corner is ES4U, the outlet store at Casanova, 56!
They also have a shop at 35007 Las Palmas de G.C., Carnary Islands and soon will have stores in Bilbao, Valencia, and Madrid!
And of course, you can order worldwide via their ES COLLECTION site!

Same Sex Kiss Day At STARBUCKS
This one-day event coincides with “Tax Day” to highlight the fact that “LGBT couples have yet to be granted the same rights to file our taxes jointly on a Federal level, and we can still be fired for being openly gay in the workplace. That’s why you’re encouraged to be seen on Tax Day, April 15, 2009, spreading your love with a KISS!”
Same Sex Kiss Day calls for couples to go to a neighborhood Starbucks coffee shop and during one (or all, if you wish) of four designated times throughout the day, exchange a kiss with your same sex partner or friend. The set times are at 7:15 am, 12:15 pm, 5:15 pm, and 8:15 pm.
Why Starbucks? Well according to the Same Sex Kiss Day site, “Starbucks has been committed to LGBT rights since the beginning of time offering domestic partnership insurance, quoting gay artists on their coffee cups, and funding our gay pride parades.”
Mel England and Swimming with the Polar Bears
Upon meeting Mel England, there are no visible scars from the torture he has endured. It is the strength of his conviction, which is appealing, and which drove him to create the one-man show, Swimming with the Polar Bears, in which he uses his life-experiences to expose the dangers of global warming. (Swimming with the Polar Bears Premieres in a 3-day benefit at the Bleecker Street Theatre April 20, 21, and EARTH DAY April 22.)
Swimming with the Polar Bears is a funny, poignant, and devastatingly personal look at the dangers of global warming. Actor Mel England returns to the autobiographical one-man arena, with director Jill André, to explore the parallels between contemporary life, ancient Eskimo mythology, and the tragic loss of endangered species.
The juxtaposition of his personal journey, against the backdrop of video and images by National Geographic’s Tristan Bayer and original music by Thomas Silcott unites in beautiful harmony, mirroring the nature it represents. Swimming with the Polar Bears transcends from personal anguish to the global world.
Mel is SURVIVOR—he made a choice to survive, and now (after a recent cancer scare) wants to do something about it by propelling people to action—protecting our environment. A 20 year survivor of AIDS. He contracted the virus at a time that all of his loved ones were dieing of the disease. Mel is a cancer survivor. Friends call him a “pioneer.” In the spirit of Magic Johnson, Craig Chester and Tom Duane, coming out with this story is also about realizing that it’s not something to hide or be ashamed of, but something to be proud.
Mel has a history of performing one-man shows. He was in NY and LA premieres of Israel Horwitz’s 3 Weeks After Paradise about 9/11 and his own Navajo Memoirs (called “ingenious” by Back Stage). In this show, he takes a profound leap of faith coming out, as a an actor with AIDS.

Gay Marriage Bill Introduced in New York!
BREAKING NEWS –
From New York Daily News!
Gov. Paterson will unveil legislation to legalize gay marriage on Thursday, a legislative source confirmed.
Paterson will introduce the measure – which revives a bill that died in 2007 – despite uncertain prospects for its adoption in the state Senate.
“This means it’s a priority for him,” said Sen. Thomas Duane, a Manhattan Democrat and one of the Senate’s biggest advocates for gay marriage.
Duane said he’s been invited to take part in the bill’s unveiling with the governor at an event Thursday in Manhattan.
Despite a slim Democratic majority in the Senate, the bill faces stiff opposition in the chamber. Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, a Queens Democrat, supports the measure but does not intend to have a vote unless there are enough votes to pass it.
“We don’t want to jeopardize the momentum by putting it up before it has enough votes to pass,” Austin Shafran, a Smith spokesman, said Tuesday.
Paterson, a Democrat, told several upstate radio stations last week that he intended to re-introduce the measure and hoped the Senate would vote on it regardless of whether it had the votes to pass.
The state Assembly has already approved legislation legalizing same sex marriage.
Duane expressed confidence that the measure would ultimately be adopted by the Senate.
“When the governor signs this bill into law, it is going to be a defining moment for him,” Duane said.

USS NEW YORK IS ON IT’S WAY!
While this news piece isn’t really gay, we thought it was still of interest to the city and worth running.
The USS NEW YORK is made from 24 tons of
salvaged steel from the World Trade Center.
I t is the fifth in a new class of warship –
designed for missions that include special
operations against terrorists. It will carry a
crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines
to be delivered ashore by helicopters and
assault craft.
Steel from the World Trade Center was melted
down in a foundry in Amite , LA to cast the ship’s bow section.
When it was poured into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, ‘those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,’ recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. ‘It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.’
Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the ‘hair on my neck stood up.’ ‘It had a big meaning to it for all of us,’ he said. ‘They knocked us down. They can’t keep us down. We’re going to be back.’
The ship’s motto? ‘Never Forget’
She arrives in NY 11/2/09 for the commissioning ceremony on 11/7.
Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival
On Easter Sunday, (April 12, 2009) you have the opportunity to see Easter bonnets to the New York City extreme as “paraders” wander along Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets.
The area around St. Patrick’s Cathedral is the ideal place to see the parade. The Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Unlike most New York City Parades, the Easter Parade is a far less organized event. From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. the area along Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets is closed to vehicular traffic, and folks wander the street admiring various Easter Bonnets and Easter outfits.
Visitors in town during Easter will enjoy stopping by the area for a bit during the festivities, but seeing the various Easter bonnets and costumed pets is probably only worth a short visit.
This parade doesn’t have any floats or marching bands but it is a spectacle nonetheless. From around the world people come to New York City to participate.
Outfits range from elegant to outrageous. From outfits accented with live animals to civil war period costumes and the latest high fashions, there is a little bit of everything for the parade viewer.

RAINBOW PILGRIMAGE – New York City Tourism Embraces Gay Stonewall Anniversary
(Photo – Announcing a new marketing campaign aimed at gay tourists were George A. Fertitta, chief executive of NYC & Company, Christine C. Quinn, the City Council speaker, and Rosie Mendez, a Manhattan councilwoman.)
New York City is a great place to be gay in, that’s for sure. We have come a long way, but still have a long ways to go. New York City boasts an abundance of destinations that not only shed light on the LGBT past, but continue offering entertainment, education and opportunities for work relating to the community.
In the New York Times today SEWELL CHAN reports,
Announcing a new marketing campaign under the slogan “Rainbow Pilgrimage,” tourism officials said on Tuesday that the new marketing campaign would seek to portray a visit to New York “as a ‘rite of passage’ for the gay and lesbian traveler.”
City officials found little remarkable in using an event associated with violence and resistance as the centerpiece of a marketing campaign.
“I don’t think it’s ironic; I think it’s significant,” Christine C. Quinn, the City Council speaker, who is openly gay, told reporters at a news conference Tuesday announcing the campaign. “You know, 40 years ago a group of people said, ‘Enough was enough.’ And they struck back against police officers. They struck back against unfair treatment. They quite frankly did what they felt they had to do. And it created the modern L.G.B.T. civil rights movement.”
I don’t know….I kind of feel like the city is trying to make money off the gay community. Like we are being exploited for the Gay $$$.
Get equal LGBT rights and gay marriage passed!
Give us respect. Give us equality.
Will the tourism board be working with groups like Heritage of Pride and The Center?
It sounds like they created this campaign without the imput of the gay community….
I hope in the coming months, we see this as a good thing.

Bridging the Gay-Straight Divide – Beyond Tolerance March 28th
When a boy in second-grade class announced to his friends that he did not like girls, a classmate told him that someday he would marry one.
An assistant teacher at a school in NYC, intervened, noting that sometimes two men get married and sometimes people don’t marry at all. She was later reprimanded for her actions.
A group of gay-rights activists are now involved in planning Beyond Tolerance 3, a March 28 event devoted to the creation and maintenance of GSAs city-wide. The event is sponsored by NYQueer, a working group with the New York Collective of Radical Educators (NYCoRE)..
Beyond Tolerance 3 will be aimed primarily at giving teachers the resources they need to promote GSAs at their schools, but will also be providing tools to students so that they can feel empowered to be active and participate in causes they believe in. The event will include workshops and forums for educators and students to voice their concerns, both to themselves and to each other.
NYQueer is working together with representatives from the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, Connect to Protect, PFLAG and other organizations to organize Beyond Tolerance 3.

They operate worldwide together with partners, clients and manufacturers, designers, artists and architects in all areas of design. Working from a mentality that is close to human, their unique products and designs each tell a story about themes such as: memories, nostalgia, re-use, craftsmanship and nature.
The goal is to create innovative concepts that change perspective, they want to substantially contribute to the international debate about design.
Cool designs like GLUE JEANS. Say goodbye to the stitch; the new jeans is kept together by glue! Droog presents the Gluejeans by G+N designers as part of the public downtown programme of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week.
How about BOTTOMS UP Doorbell? What we know as a doorbell, a square box, does not actually indicate its function. In Bottoms Up, nothing is hidden. The sound is created and symbolized by the crystal wineglasses. The guests are announced with a musical toast of this doorbell.
Over 150 products from over 100 designers. As Droog Design is not a style, but rather a view on design in the 21st century, the founders of Droog prefer to have the initiative in the contact with designers, to ensure that new ideas have not been inspired by exisitng Droog products but represent innovative and creative concepts.
