My Gay Roommate Moves to New York
My Gay Roommate (MGR) is a rather new comedy web series (about 18 months old) that explores the relationship between two college roommates – one who is very gay, and one who is straight. It follows their experiences, altercations, and the slightly absurd situations they find themselves in as first time college students — everything from losing their virginities to cleanliness and everything in between. Season 1 was released in November 2012.
Season 3 has just started and episode one finds Nick in New York, looking for a new roommate.
“MGR is about us. We (Austin Bening and Noam Ash) were roommates all four years of college. After we graduated we moved to New York, and the show came with us, ” explains co-creater Noam Ash. “We built a new team – we have a new writer on board, Samuel Korda, and a new cast and crew. Things have been going swimmingly, it’s been a ton of fun – lots of funny, sexy and interesting twists coming this season!”
Noam told us, “I am a full time actor, singer and writer. I’m auditioning, performing, filming and writing. Earlier this year I starred in the world premier of “Chemistry”, a two-person play by Jacob Marx Rice directed by Joshua W. Kelley.”
“We have been overwhelmed by the response MGR has gotten. At the one year mark we reached our first 1,000,000 hits, and at the current pace we will hit 2,000,000 at our one and a half year anniversary. So we’re having steady and substantial growth, which is awesome. Our subscriber base is constantly growing with new people discovering the show every day. It’s pretty awesome!”
What’s next is Season 3? And the road ahead in New York?
“Who knows!” says Noam. ” I’m auditioning, performing… Anything could happen! There are still plenty of #MGRs to be written and filmed. One dream would be to have the show picked up by a network and developed for television. That would be pretty fucking cool. I would also LOVE LOVE LOVE to do a sitcom and a Broadway show. Hopefully more than one of each :). And before I die I WILL sing a duet with Idina Menzel. 🙂 “
and he added, “stay tuned, you won’t be disappointed!”

Amanda Lepore talks Transgender with INTO THE GLOSS
“[David LaChapelle] would always tell me that I was ‘the number-one transsexual in the world with a fully functional vagina,'” Lepore told Into The Gloss. (And when you call her cell phone, that is the recoding you get!)
“I became really proud of it. It wasn’t about trying to pass for a woman — I am anti that. I think it’s what set me apart from other transsexuals. It could have gone very wrong but instead it went right.”
Transsexual nightlife icon Amanda Lepore recently sat down with Into The Gloss to discuss her career, transitioning and her rise to prominence as a staple of New York’s downtown club scene.
Gay Wedding Giveaway in New York City
Once the question is popped, every engaged couple knows that the follow-up they’ll have to answer is, “How did it happen?”.
Duane Street Hotel, a boutique hotel in Tribeca, wants to know too. The hotel’s new Facebook contest, will award one lucky couple an NYC wedding based on their engagement story.
The contest launched on Valentine’s Day and ends on March 31, 2014. Entrants are asked to submit their proposal story on Duane Street Hotel’s Facebook page for a chance to win a complete wedding package, which includes everything but the city hall ceremony itself.
“With the declaration of DOMA as unconstitutional, and our proximity to the Manhattan Marriage Bureau, we have gotten a lot more weddings lately, especially with LGBT couples,” said Nicolas Daeppen general manager of Duane Street Hotel. “With this contest, we want to promote how fabulous getting married at City Hall really can be.”
The winner of the contest will receive overnight accommodations at the Tribeca lifestyle hotel, sparkling champagne upon arrival, a gift box of 12 pastel heart almond pound cake petits fours from Duane Park Patisserie adorned with the couple’s initials, two “I Got Married in New York City” t-shirts and American breakfast for two in the morning.
For the actual ceremony, the winner can visit the Manhattan Marriage Bureau. Duane Street Hotel is one of the closest hotels to the bureau, just five blocks away. Renovated in 2009, the bureau is adorned with chandeliers, modern furnishings, and marble pillars.
Duane Street Hotel, an Independent Collection hotel, is a TAG-approved hotel and a member of IGLTA. The contest’s prize is a modified version of the hotel’s newly launched “I Do NYC” package, which is available for purchase and targeted toward couples getting married at Manhattan Marriage Bureau.

Mayor of New York Plans to Skip This Years St Patricks Day Parade
Gotta Love This! New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says he won’t be marching in the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
De Blasio says he won’t partake in the parade along Fifth Avenue because of organizers’ refusal to allow participants to carry gay-pride signs.
“I will be participating in a number of other events to honor the Irish heritage of this city and the contributions of Irish-Americans, but I simply disagree with the organizers of that parade in their exclusion of some individuals in this city,” he said, according CBS New York.
Organizers say gay people are welcome to march, but they say signs celebrating being gay would detract from the parade’s focus on honoring Irish heritage. So you can be gay and march – but you can’t celebrate being gay and Irish. Only Irish.

Miss Coco Peru PRAYS THE PREACHER Away
A Catholic high School has postponed a talk by a controversial priest
who encourages teens to “pray away the gay” — but the president of the
Bronx school defied angry gay groups by saying the lecturer will be invited back.
Father Donald Timone was scheduled to speak Tuesday night at Cardinal
Spellman High School about the Catholic group called Courage — which
encourages teens “struggling with same-sex attraction” to lead chaste
lives.
After outrage by lesbian and gay alumni, and some staffers, school
President Trevor Nicholls scrubbed the event — but this battle is not
over.

special effects, gorgeous costumes and innovative staging since 1933.
Every year, more than one million people enter Radio City Music Hall to
see the one-of-a-kind show and participate in a classic New York
tradition. In fact, for many theatergoers, the Radio City Christmas
Spectacular is an annual event, right up there with the Rockefeller

part of the Christmas-in-New-York experience.
A Christmas Story, The Musical
debuted, and the holiday hijinks of the Depression-era Parker family
have been part of American culture ever since. Driven by nine-year-old
Ralphie Parker’s desperate wish to find a Red Ryder BB Gun in his
stocking, the movie has become an annual event, joining It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street
in the pantheon of Christmas classics. Now reimagined for the stage as a
musical, the holiday hit will once again come to the stage in December.

New York Queer Experimental Film Festival Nov. 12-17th
The 26th New York Queer Experimental Film Festival
(between 12th & 13th Streets, in Gowanus)
MIX NYC presents the 26th New York Queer Experimental Film Festival, with
over 225 short films, features, art installations and live
performances—made by or for lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, and
queer people—along with galleries and gathering spaces open free to the public.
This year’s MIX Festival promises to be an interactive and experiential
wonderland—yours for the making—filled with mind-bending art and
friendly crowds in a 20,000 sf warehouse transformed by local artists.
This year we’ve turned our venue into a living organism, complete a
monumental pair of breathing lungs, neuron lattices, fleshy openings and
veiny interiors. You’ll easily loose a few hours exploring the fleshy
nooks and crannies of the site. It’s the opposite antiseptic atmosphere
you’d find at a gallery or museum screening – it’s not about looking at
art in silence, then going home.
The 26th New York Queer Experimental Film Festival makes it
easy to open up to the warmth of our crowd and the outlaw energies of
our screens. And after the screenings are over, MIX NYC gives the
colorful and comfy lounge space to mingle with artists, meet new folks
from all walks of life, plot the downfall of oppression everywhere. You
may just feel the call to make an experiment of yourself.
It’s the after-hours that makes the festival. If you’re out of sick
days, call in queer—the MIX celebration goes late every night.
