A Christmas Story, The Musical

It’s been 30 years since the film A Christmas Story
debuted, and the holiday hijinks of the Depression-era Parker family
have been part of American culture ever since. Driven by nine-year-old
Ralphie Parker’s desperate wish to find a Red Ryder BB Gun in his
stocking, the movie has become an annual event, joining It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street
in the pantheon of Christmas classics. Now reimagined for the stage as a
musical, the holiday hit will once again come to the stage in December.

presented the Rockettes and other live acts in between movies. Guests
hear fascinating stories about the building’s stunning murals, nude

justification for how the ladies’ and gentlemen’s bathrooms and lounges
were decorated.

Inside the theater, visitors view the massive stage that stretches

City Music Hall’s innovator and theatrical impresario, the late S.L.
“Roxy” Rothafel. Framed posters of famed Radio City acts line the
corridors, including Prince, Elton John, Justin Timberlake and Bette
Midler, who broke a Radio City record in 1993 by selling out 30 shows.

October 11th Premiere of HIDDEN HILLS

For the last two years, a
small group of people have been producing a film that will hopefully
make a huge impact on your life. Not only will it make you laugh, think,
and get a big old lump in your throat, but hopefully, it will help you
rethink some really important stereotypes you might carry with you.

 1960’s
in Hidden Hills, California. A handsome real estate agent, Drew Drake
finds himself in a secret relationship that has become an overbearing
lie. For seven years he has secretly been dating and living with his
business partner Whitey Ford. None of his friends know. The issue isn’t
that they’re gay. Nearly everyone in Hidden Hills is gay. (Straight
people are the ones hiding in the closet.) The problem is that both Drew
and Whitey are Caucasian.

No
one dates the same race! It’s a social taboo. Will Drew Drake have the
nerve to buck societal norms and come clean about his love for Whitey
Ford? Can two white men admit their love for each other and take their
relationship to the next level – marriage?

Starring
Ted Trent and Tim O’Leary, Hidden Hills is a comedy that looks at race,
sexuality, aging, and weight issues, flipping the world upside down in a
72 minute feature film that mimics the classic styling of Rock Hudson
and Doris Day movies. Also featuring up and coming Hollywood talent
including Joy Sudduth (Criminal Minds), Wendy Shapero (Robot Chicken),
and Chris Fennessy (Zoey 101) and a performance of an original song by
Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go’s. The movie was written and directed by Dan
Steadman (Red Lodge) whose first project Jesus People: The Movie is to
be released in early 2014. It features Wendi McLendon-Covey
(Bridesmaids) and Academy Award® winner Octavia Spencer (The Help).

IT WILL AIR

ON NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY, OCTOBER 11th, 2013 & YOU CAN WATCH IT FOR FREE!

+ Pool Will Become a Reality in New York’s Hudson River

It’s going to happen!  A  pool in the Hudson River! It started with a vision – not it’s going to become a reality!

Like a giant strainer dropped into the river, + POOL makes it possible
for everybody to swim in clean river water right here in NYC.
+ POOL started with a simple goal: instead of trying to clean the entire
river, what if you started by just cleaning a small piece of it?
And
what if you could change how New Yorkers see their rivers, just by
giving them a chance to swim in it?

A  Kickstarter  fund drive was launched with goal of $250,000,  “we’ll be able to build the 35′ x
35′ Float Lab off the Brooklyn shore this August, giving everybody a
chance to see and learn about how + POOL will clean the rivers.” – As of July 20th, $273,000  has been raised!

+ POOL is driven by the supporters, backers and collaborators that want
to see the pool in the water as much as we do.  So we thought, what if
we broke the pool into bite-size chunks and gave everybody a way to
claim a piece of the pool for themselves?”

Find out how to own your own piece of the pool at Kickstarter!

New York City Restaurant Week Returns in July

NEW YORK CITY Restaurant Week is coming back in July! The dining event, under the banner
“Summer’s Biggest Week,” offers New Yorkers and visitors 20-plus days of dining deals from
July 22 to August 16,
Mondays through Fridays, with Saturdays excluded and Sundays optional.
Guests can enjoy three-course prix-fixe lunches for $25 and three-course
prix-fixe dinners for $38 (excluding beverages, gratuities and taxes).
Diners can begin to make reservations at more than 300 participating
restaurants starting
July 8 at
nycgo.com/restaurantweek.

“NYC
Restaurant Week offers visitors and New Yorkers the perfect opportunity
to try a new cuisine and sample the various offerings of New York City’s
finest dining establishments at an affordable
price,” said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta. “Innovative
programs like NYC Restaurant Week showcase the vibrancy and diversity of
New York City and help spotlight and support one of the City’s most
important industries.”

“Dining is
one of New York City’s most meaningful and compelling experiences,”
says Tracy Nieporent, Chairman of NYC & Company’s Restaurant
Committee. “NYC Restaurant Week brings together a community
of restaurants inspired to offer our guests the quality, variety and
hospitality that makes New York City the dining capital of the world.”

NYC Restaurant Week, the first and largest dining program of its kind,
was created in 1992 for the Democratic National Convention in New York
City.
The popular program supports
the City’s thriving restaurant industry, which employs more than
200,000 people and grosses annual sales exceeding $12 billion. New
York City offers more dining options than most states do, boasting
24,000 restaurants and food service establishments.

Consumers’
enthusiasm for the program remains strong. According to OpenTable,
approximately 210,000 diners were seated though online reservations
during the Winter 2013 promotion, generating over
$6 million to participating restaurants. In addition, reservations via
mobile device increased by 65% over the Winter 2012 promotion.

A full list of the summer participants will be available when reservations open on July 8 at

New York’s Most Expensive Dishes!

I think I would pay $1,000 for a caviar pizza before I would spend $1,000 on a hot fudge sundae.

According to NY EATER this week, Whales love plunking down cash for caviar-topped, lobster-stuffed,
truffle-crusted novelty dishes, and thankfully, there are plenty of
these creations on menus throughout New York City. Here’s a map of 10 extremely expensive dishes in NYC.
